USF to develop new database to enhance success transfer students

by The 100 Companies

The University of South Florida is developing a first of its kind database that will help streamline the process for students transferring from other Florida colleges.

Transfer students, who are often from underrepresented populations, face unique challenges to graduating. The university is creating the database in hopes of reduced costs, greater access and improved outcomes for transfer students.

The database is part of a larger project supported by a four-year, $1.25 million grant from Helios Education Foundation to USF, UCF and FIU. Those schools combined receive nearly 20,000 transfer students every fall — 63% of all transfer students in the state.
