Empowering women at $1.75 a ride

Enterprising Latinas, Inc., a nonprofit that provides pathways to financial stability for women and families in south Hillsborough County, is addressing a major challenge – lack of public transportation in that area.

The nonprofit is developing a social enterprise called Arriba Transportation to provide reliable transportation for area residents via mini buses for $1.75 per ride. The concept matches Enterprising Latinas’ mission to empower women, as the goal is to hire local women to operate the enterprise.

Enterprising Latinas has received support from Hillsborough County, the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and Allegany Franciscan Ministries, but more help is needed.
