On Feb. 18, local leaders celebrated the ribbon-cutting of New Trail Plaza, a $31 million affordable housing community at 4644 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.
A public-private partnership between Blue Sky Communities and CASL, the project transforms surplus county land into 96 modern apartments. Serving residents at 30%, 60% and 80% of area median income (AMI), the development is already over 50% occupied.
Sarasota Mayor Debbie Trice and local officials praised the project for providing attainable housing for working families. Amenities include a clubhouse, playground and an on-site Family Center offering financial literacy and tutoring to help local residents thrive.
