Winner: The family dog. Tampa finished fourth nationally and tops in Florida for dog-friendly cities in a ranking by LawnStarter. The city received high marks for its accessibility of dog parks among the 93 big cities that were judged nationwide. The top three cities were, in order, San Francisco; Henderson, Nevada and Portland, Oregon.
Loser: Tampa’s cat houses. No, not THAT kind of cat house. Get your mind out of the gutter. The story is overcrowding at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is a problem, especially for our furry feline friends. The shelter says it is 500% over capacity.
