Tampa Bay reports the No. 10-lowest GPD per worker among all large U.S. metros, according to a new report from Hire A Helper.
The annual GDP per worker in the Tampa metro area, which includes Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, is $93,466, compared to $109,519 nationally.
The report examined economic productivity per worker in different U.S. cities. According to the study, since the 1980s, economic productivity has continued to grow steadily, but wage growth has not kept up. This gap between productivity and wage growth is closely related to rising levels of economic inequality in the U.S.
