The City of Tampa has announced a multiphase program aimed at improving infrastructure in some of the city’s most underserved neighborhoods, where some infrastructure is more than a century old.

The program will focus on four neighborhoods: East Tampa, MacFarlane Park, Forest Hills and Virginia Park. Construction is set to start in the summer with wastewater improvements in MacFarlane Park and East Tampa. The project includes water, wastewater, stormwater and transportation improvements.

“We’re trying to be preventive in our approach to fixing a lot of these areas prior to having to come out during an emergency,” said Mayor Jane Castor.
