by The 100 Companies

Tampa officials and business leaders broke ground Tuesday on the site of what’s to be a new 55,000-square-foot recreation center, set to open in fall 2022.

The $14 million project is set to become The Skills Center in East Tampa. It is designed to hold three gymnasiums, an esports area, a job training and education room, a health and nutrition kitchen, offices and event space. The collaborative will has raised over $9 million for the project, with a $5 million campaign still to go.

The TB Lightning contributed $100,000 to the project, and will host street hockey program in the facility.
