Nonprofit wins $25,000 for social enterprise

by

Shepherd’s Village, a nonprofit that helps single mothers move forward from crisis to personal and economic stability, won the $25,000 grand prize in Social Venture Partner Tampa Bay’s Fast Pitch competition.

The Village won for its social enterprise business, Shabby2Chic, a thrifty boutique in Belleair Bluffs that repurposes donated furnishings and accessories and teaches business skills to women working there. Revenue from the boutique supports education and vocational scholarships for the women at Shepherd’s Village.

The prize money will go toward expanding the Shabby2Chic store to include event space and adding more educational resources to the Shepherd’s Village website.
