Local company Peerfit, which connects employers and carriers with flexible fitness experiences for employees, is continuing to expand with $8 million in fresh capital. Peerfit plans to expand its product division, which already has a fitness studio network covering 46 states.

Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck and his investment group, Causeway Media Partners, are among the notable investors this round. Grousbeck joins Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik as an investor and board member.

With this closed funding round, Peerfit has raised more than $23 million since 2011, making it among the most successful local startups based on capital raised.
