There is a saying in nonprofits: “No money, no mission.” Nonprofits will never be able to maximize their impact if organizations aren’t financially sustainable, says Martha Boden, CEO of SPCA Tampa Bay.
More and more nonprofits are looking at social enterprise – a business venture started by a nonprofit that creates revenue for organization programs – as a solution. SPCA Tampa Bay’s full-service Veterinary Center in St. Petersburg is one example.
In this 100-second video, Boden talks about how her strong for-profit business experience has benefited the animal welfare organization and how other professionals shouldn’t rule out nonprofit work.
