What makes St. Pete so special?

That’s the question that St. Pete Preservation asked as the group filmed a video at its “Keep St. Pete Special” event at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club.

My answer? “It’s the combination of the old and the new,” I said.

For the old, it’s areas like Roser Park, the Old Northeast, the 600 block of Central Avenue and the “First Block,” site of the Detroit Hotel. As for the new, it’s FarmTable Kitchen at Locale Market, the Dalí Museum or a favorite breakfast spot, the Wooden Rooster in the Ovation building on Beach Drive.
